Protecting The Past – BBC Micro
Protecting our heritage has always been part of the Trifibre business. Recently we were called in to solve a problem for a Computer Museum based in Cambridge.
The Centre for Computing History has a huge collection of computers and related artefacts that date back
to the fifties much of which is on display and open to the public to visit. They
also have an excellent outreach service that takes vintage computers to schools
to show children how computers used to be and how they have changed the world.
However, transportation of these rare and valuable computers is a problem – where can you buy a case for a BBC Micro Computer these days!! – Trifibre to the rescue.
“The cases are fantastic. I can’t think of anyone else who would want to
flight case a BBC Microcomputer so I thought we’d have to make do with
an off the shelf case that nearly met our needs. But Trifibre manufactured
the case to our exact specification so now we have a case that perfectly
protects the vintage computers whilst they travel around the country from
school to school.”
